The Problem

Most practices have no plan. The burden falls on the people you care most about.

When a practice owner becomes incapacitated or dies, the clock starts immediately — and no one knows what to do.

Abandoned Client Records

Without a plan, client charts risk being improperly stored or lost.

Stranded Clients & Clinicians

Clients lose their therapist overnight with no referral. Employees lose their livelihood with no warning.

Legal & Financial Liability

Unpaid bills, unclosed insurance accounts, lapsed credentialing.

No Time to Figure It Out

Grieving families and friends shouldn't have to navigate state licensing boards, payroll systems, and HIPAA compliance.

Don't leave your practice unprotected

Every day without a plan is a day of unnecessary stress — for you, your clients, and everyone who depends on your practice.

How It Works

Peace of mind in three steps. Takes 2 minutes to start.

About the Founder

About Me

I'm a contingency planner by nature. I think about my impact on the people I love if something were to happen to me, and I put steps in place to protect them. I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who has experienced both group and solo practice, and I know the weight of that work intimately.

Many therapists have plans that involve trusted family and friends, and that love and trust is well placed. And yet, navigating the professional and ethical obligations of closing a practice is a separate layer that even the most willing loved ones may not be equipped to handle while grieving.

I didn't want that for my people. So I built the plan I wished existed, and then I built Forestalled to give other therapists that same peace of mind.

This service was built through a clinical and ethical lens. I understand the obligations therapists carry, including duty of care, client confidentiality, and the weight of an unexpected transition on the people we serve. That understanding is baked into everything Forestalled offers.

FAQ

Questions you probably have

What exactly does a Professional POA cover?
Our Professional POA is specifically designed for therapy practice transitions. It authorizes Forestalled to act on your behalf to close or transition your practice — including managing client records, filing state paperwork, closing accounts, and ensuring compliance with all regulations.
How are my client records and practice documents stored?
All documents are encrypted using industry-standard AES-256 encryption and stored in HIPAA-compliant secure servers. Access is strictly controlled and only activated when needed for practice transition purposes.
When does Forestalled actually step in?
We only act when triggered by predefined circumstances you set up — such as incapacity, death, or other situations you specify. Until then, your documents remain securely stored and your practice operates as normal.
Can I customize my transition plan?
Absolutely. Every practice is unique. We work with you to create a customized transition plan that addresses your specific needs, preferred referral providers, employee considerations, and any special circumstances.
What happens to my employees if I have a group practice?
For group practices, we include employee transition support in our plans. This includes managing final payroll, benefits administration, providing employment verification, and helping employees transition to new positions when possible.
Is this only for practices in certain states?
No, we work with therapy practices across all 50 states. Our team is familiar with state-specific licensing requirements, record retention laws, and regulatory compliance for mental health practices nationwide.

Your clients trust you.
Make sure that trust outlasts you.

It takes 2 minutes to start. The peace of mind lasts a lifetime.
